Dr S. Hands
Left his native Liverpool in 1980 to study physics at Cambridge and went from there
to Edinburgh for a Ph.D. Has subsequently held research positions at Oxford,
Illinois, Glasgow
and CERN and was
appointed a SERC advanced fellow. His research focusses on lattice gauge theory which
involves the use of some of the worlds most powerful computers to study properties of matter
at the smallest scales.
Is married to artist
Sally Hands
and has a young son.
