Theory Group Computing Policy

1. Category of users included in this policy:

a) Postgraduate students
b) Postdoctoral Fellows
c) Lecturing Staff
d) Visiting Academics (with the approval of the Lecturing Staff member they are visiting)
e) 4th Year MPhys (theory) project students (with the approval of their Lecturing Staff member supervisor)

2. All the above members of staff are entitled to:

a) an account on the fileserver/mailserver (pyserver)
b) access to the gateway machine
c) an account on the web server (pyweb)
d) an account on their their desktop workstation
e) registration of the ip address (both wired and wireless) of any or their laptops (whether personal or group owned)
f) in the case of seminar organisers, access to the seminar organisers web pages/accounts on pyweb

3. People allowed to have root access to their desktop workstations:

a) Lecturing Staff
b) Postdoctoral fellows with the approval of the lecturing staff member "overseeing" them
c) Postgraduate students with the approval of the student's supervisor
d) Visiting academics with the approval of the lecturing staff member they are visiting
